<p>Want to use a len hood to imrpove your photography and protect the front of you expensive lens? &nbsp;But don't want to have to take the hood off everytime to access the lens cap. &nbsp;Then you shoud print this lens hood and then just attach the lens cap to the hood instead.</p><p>Two versions are available (straight or cone). &nbsp;The straight hood will fit your lens' existing cap. &nbsp;The cone hood have a more conventional look, but you'll need to get hold of a larger lens cap.<br>You can customize the length, also the front/back diameters to suit each of your individual lenses. &nbsp;The hood also have extra thick walls, so you can increase the fill to allow your hood to take heavy knocks.<br>This customizable hood is designed to stay on your lens. &nbsp;If you intend to take the hood off regularly, you may consider attaching the hood to a step-up ring to reduce the wear on the plastic threads.</p><p>The pictures shows the straight hood with 46mm threads and the cone hood with step up from 37mm to 46mm. &nbsp;It is recommended that you print camera equipment using matt black filaments, so they reduce reflection of unwanted light. &nbsp;The model in the picture is printed in a brighter color, to help distinguish printed parts from non-printed ones.</p><p><br><strong>Printing Notes</strong><br>The customizations are all performed in the slicer software.<br>Each lens hood consist of two threaded sections (front and back end) and three scaleable sections., that you can scale the height to achieve the length you need.<br>For cone shape hood. &nbsp;First determine the front and back thread diameters you need. &nbsp;Then insert all the step ups in between. &nbsp;Scale all the parts scaleable sections to achieve the total length you need.</p><p>Print with front of the hood on the print bed, so you don't get elephant foot on the back thread.</p><p>The print quality of each printer differs. &nbsp;If you are not getting quality threads, you can try reducing the print layer to 0.1mm. &nbsp;For a perfecting fitting thread, you can try scaling the diameter of the front and back threaded sections (you shouldn't need to scale the thread in the z direction). &nbsp;The threads will be tight initially and loosen up a bit after use. &nbsp;If you expect to take the hood off regularly, you might consider attaching the hood permanently to a step-up ring instead.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>You can check out my other prints at <a href="https://www.printables.com/social/76585-highrise-workshop/models">https://www.printables.com/social/76585-highrise-workshop/models</a>. &nbsp;And don't forget to click the “Like” button.</p>
