Stop The Press! This is a prototype for a simple letterpress. Arrange the tiles, cover with ink, hold paper down firmly - hey presto! Font is OCR-A, designed to be clearly read by humans and machines. The .ODS is an OpenOffice / LibreOffice file which you can use to generate your own character. Read my blog about it at http://shkspr.mobi/blog/2014/04/3d-printed-letter-press/ Instructions Created a spreadsheet (.ods attached). Each square has a thick black border (space between the tiles) Background is grey - the darker, the thinner the height of the tile. Font is white - the lighter, the higher the letter stands from the tile. Export to PNG. Trim the excess in a graphics editor (GiMP) and ensure background is black. FLIP THE FILE HORIZONTALLY! Use png23d to create the .STL Sample command png23d -v -f surface -t 0 -l 32 -w 100 -d 5 -O 1 -o stl Letter.png Letters.stl
