Similar to the Letus MCS ShoulderPad/Plate design, but for the Manfrotto 501 plate system. Rather than attaching up the center, the attachment will be on either end of the plate, via countersunk screws coming up from the bottom into a railblock a la 'tripod mounting plates'. In place of the center column of screw holes will be a countersunk area for velcro attachment. The guide screw channels for the tripod attachment will still be in place. For those unfamiliar with the Master Cinema Series setup, the mounting plate serves as a hub for a shoulder pad which is secured via velcro. When the rig is not being used as a shoulder setup, one can remove the shoulder pad, and place the rig right onto the tripod. This sort of setup solves a few issues: 1) Simplifies and shortens the length of the rig 2) Removes the necessity for a separate mounting plate 3) Places the camera on top of the shoulder for smoother stability One could also use the basis of the design for a long plate that might better serve the stability of a shoulder setup.
