Levelling screw for 40mm aluminium extrusion

A simple levelling screw that can be mounted on a 40mm (or bigger) aluminium extrusion. Personally, I'm using it for a large laser cutter/engraver, but it should be useful for many projects. Print three sets and you are set ;)

Now with a shoe: print it withe flexible filament and it will stop the machine from sliding around.

Print Settings

Printer:

Heavily modded Craftbot

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.25mm or less

Infill:

30% or more

Notes:

Print slowly and hot to get good mechanical strength. I used PLA, but any material should work. The threads should be oriented vertically. Print in red plastic, it will go faster ;)
If you want the shoe too, print it in flexible plastic, TPU works well. Go slow (max 20 mm/s) and with large layer height (80% of your nozzle size). Instead of retract, use coasting (if your slicer supports it), this will cut down on stringing.
Post-Printing

Add a drop of oil on the tip of the screw and try screwing it in the nut. It is hard to start it (I recommend scraping the first thread of the nut with a screwdriver), but once it catches, it should be easy to screw all the way, if your printer is reasonably precise.

If you printed the shoes as well, just screw them on.

Category: DIY
