Levitating Top

Levitating Top

thingiverse

This levitating top uses repelling magnets to make a spinning top levitate. Repelling magnets are highly unstable, they need another force to keep them stable. The gyroscopic force of the spinning top is what keeps this stable. The base accommodates 13 1/2" x 1/8" disc magnets, while the top has a single 3/4" OD x 3/8" ID x 1/8" thick ring magnet. All the magnets in the base should have north pole facing up, while the ring magnet in the top should be north pole facing down. Use the cap to hold the base magnets in place.
