I had to make this up for my 84 Catalina 27 which has two of these winches. One of the stripper rings failed which at sail and ate a genoa sheet. Lewmar doesn't make these anymore. This is for the old (early 80's) Lewmar 40 self tailing winches that say "Lewmar England" on top (see photo) and use imperial sized screws to hold the top cap on. The top cap is another distinguishing feature as is the non-sprung alloy top jaws with wavy pattern teeth that kind of look like a clam cleat. US made Lewmar wave 40s use metric size screws (figure that one out??) and have a stripper ring with a slightly small internal diameter, and will not work. I hope this saves someone else from buying a new winch and getting new life out of your otherwise serviceable one.
