Lidar Slipring For Continuous Rotation

Lidar Slipring For Continuous Rotation

This is a 3d printed thing which is used with a Lidar module. The Lidar module that was used is the predecessor of the one shown in the link below, however their bodies look the same and will most likely be compatible. This was combined with a slipring and a continuous servo motor to provide rotation for 360 scanning. I don't have the exact details of the sensor but it was mounted using the "opt_pickup_bracket.stl". It picks up the teeth on the servo gear. Note that depending on the material which the servo gear is printed with the IR light from the pickup may penetrate it. Here is a video of the rotation:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTpgX9L4r6I Hardware: Requires one 608 bearing which is pressed into the inside of the main body. The slipring shaft was coupled to the main gear shaft with a fairly soft tube. Some M2 fasteners for the servo attachment and M3 should suffice for the Lidar and main body mounting. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Prusa i3 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 60% (can probably be less) Notes: I printed this in PLA however I would recommend printing the smaller servo gear in ABS due to wear. The body was printed with supports and the flange upwards. The main gear was printed with supports and the shaft upwards. Note that I increased the inner diameters on some of the holes as my printer used with Slic3r seems to print inner diameters smaller than specified.
