Light Bulb Shield for Dark Skies and Glare Reduction

Light Bulb Shield for Dark Skies and Glare Reduction

thingiverse

This is a shield that fits over a downward facing bulb and reduces glare by directing light below the horizon, give or take. This makes it less annoying for people outdoors, and also reduces the amount of light pollution. You might accomplish the same thing with a flood type bulb or a smarter light fixture, but maybe you want lower wattage than flood types offer, and you picked the light fixture for looks or it came with your rental. Print this in white, of course, probably PETG for temperature tolerance. (I doubt it would be smart to use it on an incandescent bulb - does anyone still use those?) I included the FreeCAD file, measure your bulbs before you print. The stl file assumes an 85mm ID fixture.
