Light Up Eye LED Mount for Transformers Haslab Unicron

Now for something a little different - we tried our hand at creating a LED mount to light up the eyes for Haslab Unicron! One of the core aims for this was to try to fit everything fully inside the head, and very thankfully managed to achieve that! === ASSEMBLY === So here's some information on putting this all together on the custom 3d printable LED mount. First, the head needs to be opened up by unscrewing the three screws on the back of Unicron's head, and carefully removing all the eye parts inside. Taking photos of the layout along the way is probably recommended for when you would like to put things back. All the parts from inside of the head, with the exception of the centre post piece (shown with the LED mount slotted on it), will not be used and can be stored safely away. Now, we can't profess to be experts in the electronics side of things, but here's our rudimentary approach at putting some semblance of a circuit together. There will likely be better ways of doing things and we would love to see how y'all take it further! Our build comprises of a single CR2032 3V button cell battery powering a pair of Chibitronic LED stickers (https://amzn.to/2RYTcrc) in a parallel configuration. Soldering the wires against the terminals of the LED stickers would be recommended to ensure good contact. Wiring passes through the provided holes in the mount as shown above with the black wire looping through the bottom of the battery case, and the red wire shaped in a spiral spring-like fashion to make contact with the top of the battery when the head is closed. Once put together, this assembly can be replaced into the front of Unicron's head. Once in place, the wire will be pressed down against the CR2032 battery by the horizontal rib inside the back piece of Unicron's head. Except for a slight glimpse of the battery pack from the rear of the head, the entire thing fits wholly inside! For folks who like to take a further, perhaps a switch of some sort can be added to the circuit too, allowing the lights to be turned on and off from the outside (extra credit homework for y'all) === A quick video on this can be found here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNPPZU6yhZc === Have fun 3d printing this one to light up your own Unicron too! =) === This model is not to be uploaded or sold in any form and is intended for personal use only.
