Lighthouse - Table Lamp

A sculpture of recursive spheres - an abstract lighthouse. It can be used as a stand alone sculpture or with some creativity it could easily be turned into a bedside lamp or night light, see instructions below. Designed for deposition type printers in Modo. Version 3 has a part of the bottom removed so that it is easier to include wires with a light. Instructions Made in Modo. This needs no supports although with the large curved holes it can be a challenge for printing overhang but it worked fine on my Rep 2. I did make minor tweaks to the model based on the print in the photo; increased the base, increased the upper curve on the holes and increased the resolution. Probably best to print out at a large size because of the thickness of the top spheres. Turning it into a table lamp or nightlight: Materials: two prong led light socket (Home Depot) 12 V transformer (The Source or Home Depot) on/off switch (Home Depot) any wires for lengthening the distance from the light to the wall plug 12V led light (in this case there are two led lights as part of the bulb - Home Depot) Get a 12 V transformer, - one option is from The Source (Radio Shack) and another from Home Depot's light department (used for led lights). Purchased a 12V led light, the one in the picture is the perfect size for the default size of the print, make sure it is the right size to just fit the first level hole of the print. I brought in the light socket and wires from the back and tied it with a half hitch to one of the bottom legs of the print (see the images) - that is at the back so if you arrange it right you won't see that. Wired the 12V transformer to a two prong light socket, (see images) and then hot glued the outer rim of the led light and quickly pushed it up into the light house from below into the the first level hole to affix it. I also added an on/off switch, which can be purchased in the same area as the two prong light socket at Home Depot. Update: don't use hot glue if you leave the light on for any length of time. The led lights get hotter than I thought they would and it melts the hot glue.
