Dust Plug for the lightning connector found on iPhones and iPads. Modeled based on iPhone 5 *UPDATE due to the long term effects of using REV 1 design, I've updated the design to only sit in the first portion of the socket, instead of protruding all the way past the pins. I've also included the solidworks part files so you can tweak the overall shape to suit your printer/phone. **Update for those with thicker cases, try using https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2951337 Print Settings Notes: due to its small size and the small tolerances, you'll have to tweak the plugs thickness to suit your printer and or your phone. I also recommend printing with a skirt or raft due to its small size. *update Printing with a 0.2 nozzle has produced much better results. which works better with Rev 2.2. Post-Printing Will require some light sanding to remove skirt (if used), and retraction marks. It may also require some filling to reduce the thickness of the plug to fit into the phone. *Update I've found that using a pair of smooth pliers to compress the thickness (slowly) works as well. if you over compress the thickness it you can always compress the height to increase the thickness again. How I Designed This General The design was based on my own iPhone 5 and its USB cable. REV 1 REV 1, was design to lock into the lightning port internal clips (thus the cut outs in the top portion), the same clips that hold the USB cable in. But after long term use I found that the plug flattened the pins in the iPhone. REV 2 REV 2, was designed o sit in the first portion of the socket with a small interference fit to hold it in.
