May the Force be with you! Get ready for Star Wars Day on May the 4th! Print your very own lightsaber as used by Luke Skywalker for cosplay and on-screen action. This lightsaber appears in my showreels: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmhLejqay_w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1PIG_boA2Y While you are at it, have a look at my tie-fighter looping animation background: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILeOxL4TX-U The following lightsaber models are included: Lightsaber prop - complete, can add painted 3/4" dowel. Lightsaber prop - three pieces, can add painted 3/4" dowel. Lightsaber with blade - add your own LED strip illumination. The variants of the lightsaber are designed to be visually the same. Therefore continuity between takes is ensured for on-screen action. Print the required components with supports and about 25% infill. Check fit of the components, paint the components in silver with black and red detail and use epoxy to glue the pieces together. When making the LED strip illuminated lightsaber, you will need: Clear filament for tube sections with 8 prints of “TubeMiddle” About 4 metres of 12V white LED strip with relatively high intensity. 1 metre length of 10mm square Aluminium tube cut to length, as required. Microswitch without lever - 3D model is included as a size reference, epoxy in position. Red and black hook-up wire. Connect LED strips at tip, insulate joints and pass wires through 10mm tube. Suitable power source for the LEDs. Typically this would be 12V dc power with at least 4A current capacity. Remember electrical safety if using mains power. Connector pair between lightsaber and power supply (1/4” stereo jack). Optional: Coloured cellophane in required blade colour - blue, green, etc. Optional: Dimmer circuit. Optional: RGB LEDs with suitable driver. This model was originally modelled in Maya - the original 3D print needed a lot of filing and sanding to make it presentable. The photo of this one is against the white background. The lightsaber was then re-modelled in ViaCAD for higher 3D print resolution.
