Here is a custom 3D printed Linear actuator for activating a lever or push/pulling something or other. If you would like to build it then head over to http://youtu.be/0WFP2zGRc9E for assembly details It uses a Cost effective Stepper motor (model 28BYJ48). [ My Nema17 Stepper motor Actuator can be found here :-http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2302223 My Gear Motor (GM) version can be found here :-http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:317192 ] From a previous static test i knew that the motor in this worm screw configuration could push close to 2Kgs of force (as measured against my kitchen scales) Build Details can be found Here :- http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php/154979-3D-Printed-28BYJ48-Stepper-Moter-Actuator-%28-Low-cost-EcoRobo-Series%29 and Here :- http://letsmakerobots.com/content/3d-printed-linear-actuator Instructions Build Details can be found Here :- http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php/154979-3D-Printed-28BYJ48-Stepper-Moter-Actuator-%28-Low-cost-EcoRobo-Series%29 and Here :- http://letsmakerobots.com/content/3d-printed-linear-actuator Its prints without support in the orientation of the supplied STL files. I print mine with 0.1mm Zaxis For strength I would suggest printing with ABS. Using PLA the actuator can easily push 1kg and i have "clocked" it pushing 2kg.
