1947.10.17 The BELL X-1, piloted by Captain Chuck Yeager, breaks the speed of sound in horizontal flight for the first time in the world. (Altitude: 12000m, Mach: 1.06) This engine used the following fuel and oxidizer pumped by high-pressure nitrogen, and was used by combining four rocket engines that were ignited by the igniter. Subsequent models adopted the turbopump system (refer LRE-01-1). ・Fuel: Methanol (75%) + Water (25%) ・Oxidizer: “Liquid Oxygen (LOX)” The engine name is known as XLR-11 (RMI 6000C4). This model was made to make it easy to understand the structure with reference to internet information. A. Main Components of this model ① Igniter (4 sets) The small rocket engine that uses the same fuel and oxidizer and uses the spark plug ignition system. For this porpuse, oxidizer is used after vaporization by evaporation coil. ② Combustion chamber (4 sets) The fuel returned from the circulating cooling jacket is mixed with the oxidizer in the injector, burned, and discharged. Ignition uses the flame from ①. ③ Control device 4-stage output thrust control with high-pressure nitrogen pressure switch, shut-off valve, and check valve. ④ Ignition device For electric spark plug ignition. Control piping, wiring, and ignition leads are omitted. B. Assembly Manual (PDF format, total 13 pages) The detail assembly manual including "Parts-List", "After printing treatment" and "Assembly procedure" are prepared based on "Standard Skill (Filing, Drilling, Tapping and painting)". C. Purchase Parts Information; 1. Aluminum Pipe : φ6 2. Screws : M1.4x3.5L, M1.4x6L, M2x6L D. STL file Total STL files are 24 items including the stand and tools. “ws” of last 2 digits of file name means “With Support” special designed. E. Total Net Print Time: Approx. 41 HR - (Estimated as case of PLA, 0.4mm Nozzle, 0.2mm Layer Height, 40% infill and No raft and support) Note: When at actual print, each parameter may be adjusted by your experience. F. Printing settings Raft, Support, Layer Height, Infill: Depending on your experience. My models were printed by "idbox" using with 0.4 nozzle, 1.75 PLA. [Update] 2022.10.04 This model is one of my "Special Article" items below. [Special Article①] Engines used for "great achievements that shine in aviation history" (5 selection)http://www7b.biglobe.ne.jp/~konchan77/99_blank146.html I do hope your success!!
