Littlebird helicopter from Battle Field 2 ,as with the previous Airwolf model a mix of Sketchup , Netfabb and blender were used to make this model printable, this has already been printed and i will upload photos once it is trimmed/sanded etc. Its a slightly bigger model that the Airwolf despite being for the same size electronics this is mostly just due to the helicopters overall shape it does however end up being approx the same weight. The front cockpit i printed with 2 perimeters 2 top and 1 bottom layer, i printed it with skirt and generated supports using Simplify, you end up removing maybe 60% of the print as its mostly support material. The body was printed tail end first , mostly to reduce the need to print the supports ( if you print it wide end first it will generate supports to hold the middle wall which you will end up removing to fit the electronics) i used 2 perimeters with 0 top and bottom layers at 0.25mm layer height and it came out perfectly. The boom i printed with only 1 perimeter and 0 top and 0 bottom layers , the boom is in two pieces and you can just glue them together or use tape which ever you prefer. The machine guns and rocket pods i printed at 0.25mm layer height choose your walls etc to suit your required level of detail , they are located pretty centrally so weight distribution isnt so much of an issue. Main rotor head and blades are for static display only ( obviously ) if you try to fly with them , well , you wont get very far. i did not print skids but i have included them. Windows will be next.
