Live Bug Catcher

Live Bug Catcher

thingiverse

This is tool for catching bugs (like wayward spiders) so they can be safely transported elsewhere or studied. Open the clear sliding door, set it down over the bug, and slowly close the door, giving the bug time to climb the walls. Now you can study the bug and move it without worrying it will get away! Instructions This is intended to be printed with .4mm layers for a faster print. Before you start printing, cut a strip of paper about 30-40mm wide. During the print, during layers 3-6 or so, you will only be printing walls on three sides. Lay the strip of paper over the fourth side, so that when the printer starts bridging across it on about layer 7, the paper will act as a support and the opening will not be sealed shut (see attached picture). You want something kind of short for the briding support, like a piece of paper or thin card stock, so that the slot is a little short and therefore holds the "sliding door" in place. When the print is done, find a flat piece of clear plastic, such as from a small carton of strawberries. Thin card stock will also work, but you will not be able to see inside. Cut a strip that is the width of the slit on the side of the pyramid's base, and slightly longer (so you have a handle - see attached picture). Slide the strip into the slot. This is your sliding door.
