I wanted to make a working lamp out of that nice model, but I didn't want the AC->DC transformer sucking watts even when it was off. So I took the guts out of a sparkfun 9V DC converter and stretched the base to fit. I added some structures to the bottom help with shrinkage/warping. I don't know really if they did or not. I added a switch from RadioShack to the base as well so that you can turn of the A/C power. Instructions This is based around the Luxo Jr snap together lamp, except everyhting was scaled up by 30% (or 1.3x or whatever). The bottom panel is a little oversized and if you shave it with an exato friction holds it in. I used an adafruit LED and some high wattage resistors which I hid inside the top.
