Designed for individuals with limited ROM and/or strength to assist in maintaining independence with hydration. Uses loc-line to position the straw and attach a bike water bottle holder to a wheel chair. I used to make these assisted drinking straws with a drill press, special bits for the large loc-line fitting, an appropriate sports bottle and nylon fittings to make the check valve. Now just a 3D printer is used to make the check value and the loc-line twist cap (fits most water and soda bottles with a threaded cap). You will also need a 5/16 inch stainless steel ball bearing, food grade tubing and the loc-line to hold the finished straw in position. Use food grade PLA. WARNING: Not designed for thick liquids and many individuals cannot safely use a straw due to the risk of aspiration so use of this device should be approved by an appropriate professional. (Note: a safe-T-straw fitting has been shown to decrease the aspiration risk in barium swallow studies) For more info on this device and Safe-T-straw see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVuvkuzCOFY&t=6s
