This is a 1/24th scale reconstruction of Lola's B12/00 2012 IndyCar proposal. In 2009, IndyCar finally publicly recognized how ancient their current cars were and opened up bidding for a replacement design for 2012. They accepted bids from 3 established manufacturers and 2 upstarts. Deltawing actually went ahead and unveiled a full-scale model (their idea was the hardest to sell), but the second most detailed proposal was from Lola, who built a computer model for CFD testing as well as a physical scale wind tunnel model. Most of the drawings they released of this design don't quite line up, but I feel like I've captured most of the details. I've added files for the B12/01 road course variant, though there was considerably less reference material so I don't think it looks as accurate. Oh, I should note that the chassis selection story ends with the incumbent Dallara winning and Lola eventually declaring bankruptcy :/http://www.racecar-engineering.com/articles/features/the-indycars-that-never-were/3/ Instructions Pick between the /00 and /01. The wings are interchangeable (/00 are speedway style, /01 are high-downforce), the tubs have some minor differences (floor, roll hoop, fin, mirror placement). Print one of each part except the wheel pins (4), the Large pins (2), and the Front and Rear wheels (2 each). The tub, wings and steering wheel should be printed with support. There isn't that much support on the tub volume-wise (mine weighed 31g straight out of the printer and 27g after trimming) but removing it is time-consuming, and getting it all out of the footwell is impossible, at least when printing in PLA. Fitting the wheel pins is also a bit of a challenge, and should be done before fitting the suspension to the car. Point the pin part towards the center hole, then use a rigid thin object against the flat side to push it past all the suspension arms. That might not make any sense, so I've included a picture. I would not recommend actually using a scissor blade for that job, or trying to do it one-handed while holding a camera with the other. Safety first! Fit the suspension to the car before putting the wheels on.
