*Update: F3D file is uploaded! Design is slighty different to allow for better editability, functionality should be the same. *Update2: Apple (Lightning port) version is uploaded and tested - should work with iPhone's 6-8, may require some testing.
About
Simple USB cable clip for worn out ports on smartphones. I got tired of finding that my phone wasn't charging because the cable fell out or moved half a micron, charging through a powerbank while moving around or using a car charger was pretty much impossible before this "fix". The clip costs a mere 0.05$ in filament - many many times cheaper than replacing your port. It stays on the phone pressure fit and keeps the cable in place. Seems to be working well so far, so I imagine a couple of these should last quite a while. Original version fits ~7.5mm thickness phones and standard rounded usb cable.
How to customize
Seening as there are many makes and models of phones as well as charging cables, you will need to tweak the design for your specific application. To make this easier I have uploaded a relatively easily modifiable Fusion 360 file. To edit simply follow the guide in the pictures by right-clicking on the appropriate sketch and editing the dimensions according to your measurements (I recommend you take them with a caliper, though it is possible with a ruler it may take a few tries to get right).
Q's
Some questions I think may be asked: * Will the PLA phone clip part wear out and become loose? Possibly, but it's a 20min 3gram print, just make a couple spares. * Can you use the cable for other things? Yes, it just slides down the cable - easy to grab when you need it. * Is it universal? No, It will most likely require some tweaking (Fusion 360 guide in pictures). Keep in mind a screen protector will add around 1mm of thickness! * Can't you just do the "bend the microUSB cable pins with a needle" trick or "clean the lint from the port"? Yes, and no. Those are both viable options, and I recommend you try them, but this print is more for using while moving around, from just using the phone while charging, to cycling down a mountain with your phone charging in your backpack. Disclaimer: don't expect to print this and have it be a perfect fit off the bat. It will most likely need some tweaking to work well, which you can easily do through the f3d file in Fusion 360.
