Low Profile Power Pod

Low Profile Power Pod

thingiverse

This design of a “low profile” FT power pod allows space for the battery to be mounted on the bottom without sticking out below the fuselage. For example using the existing power pod design on the Bloody Baron I found its best to install the battery on the inside of the power pod to avoid damage on landing but this requires removing the power pod for a battery change. Also with the battery inside it gets a bit crowded as I found that the battery often needs to be in the same area as the ESC. With this new design the ESC is still installed inside but has all the space to itself. It also get cooled as with the original design. The foam board part of the power pod is glued and slotted into the adapter. A 3d printed or plywood firewall is glued to the front. Secure with extra strength packing tape as with the standard power pod. The are 2 adapters, one for the older C pack 2215 motor that has space for the motor spindle and one for the radial motor that does not.
