low profile sliding laptop camera cover

thingiverse

A low-profile sliding laptop camera cover. Consists of two parts: a rail and a tab. After you're done printing, glue the rail to the laptop with the tab inside the rail so that you can see your camera through the cutout in the rail. Do so carefuly so that no glue sticks to the tab! A small ammount of simple post processing might be needed, though I made an effort to eliminate that. This is because the plastic has a tendency to expand and because of printing imperfections. I know there is a similar design already on thingiverse, but I found it way too tiny to function. It bends and snaps so easily there was no way to get it off the bed and and attach it to the notebook without damaging it. With this design I tried to achieve a good compromise between non-intrusiveness and technical viability. I think I achieved that goal fairly well, which is why I decided to share. Recommended print settings: 0.2mm layer height 0.4mm line width 10mm/s printing speed retraction enabled z-axis hop on retraction enabled
