For use with 25.4mm tubing version of LowRider2 CNC router

This is nearly identical to DNA's awesome remix found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5236620 of Ryan's (of V1 Engineering) XZ design with the exception that I reverted the (4) mounting screw holes on DNA's version from 5.2mm back to Ryan's original "default" XZ size of 4.05mm diameter matching Ryan's original part.

I later added another version of DNA's remix that I prefer with 4.4mm mounting holes for M4 screws to slip through with a snug fit. I used with M4x50mm Philips head screws to mount to the original XZ Main. I used it in combination with the flat endcap from Teaching Tech ( https://www.printables.com/model/180136-mpcnc-lowrider2-endstop-and-electronics-case-mount ) which I tapped to secure the flat top cap with M4x12 screws.

The M4x50 screws snugly yet still allow the screw to spin freely without the threads cutting in or requiring any drilling (once any printing burr is removed on the rim of the mounting holes which I was able to remove easily by threading in an M4 screw a couple threads by hand to open up the rim without requiring any drilling.

I also decided to not bother drilling out the original default XZ Main holes larger and instead let the M4 screws cut their own threads into the original XZ Main printed parts before securing with an M4 locknut. this seemed to work well and appears secure.

The (4) M4 mounting holes here should work with M4x45mm or M4x50mm screws. I purchased and used the M4x50mm length here:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YHHQ8B2

with these locknuts:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075ZZD3NN

Thanks very much to Ryan at V1 Engineering ( https://www.v1engineering.com ), DNA for his great remix of this part, cows2computers for the belt clamps, and Michael at Teaching Tech for his LowRider2 upgrade video on YouTube covering this particular topic as well as his additions including the flat top cap option for this assembly.

Note: The LowRider 2 has been superseded with a new LowRider 3 CNC Router design.

Enjoy!

Category: Robotics
