It represents the archangel Lucifer, bringer of light and most beautiful of all the angels. Lucifer dared to challenge the power of God and was subsequently cast into Hell. Epstein shows Lucifer with his hands extended downwards towards the flames of Hell. He used a female model for the head of the sculpture and a male model for the body, giving the figure a deliberately ambiguous quality.   This object is part of "Scan The World".
