<p>Don't Panic! The Ultimate Answer to, umm... what to do with that spare surplus 42mm diameter x 145mm focal length lens that's been kicking around collecting scratches, fingerprints and dirt is here! The Lucky 42 Lens Mount will give you some protection for the glass as well as a convenient knurled outer perimeter with, you guessed it, 42 knurls!</p> <p>The Lucky 42 Lens Mount is designed around a surplus bonded Achromat (ACH) 42 x 145 lens with a 42mm diameter, an 11mm thickness at the perimeter and up to 3mm apex of the convex. It will fit any 42mm lens from around 9mm to 11.5mm thick at the perimeter as is or feel free to modify it in Fusion 360 or even just scale it in your favorite Slicer.</p> <p>Just pop in your favorite lens, fidget around with the retaining ring and Viola! Instant handy magnifier from an originally monstrously expensive surplus lens! It helps to chase the ring's outer threads slightly with a thread file, a knife or even your fingernail.</p> <p>The original is printed in Black ASA with White ASA lettering. The 45x1mm threading tolerances have been loosened slightly to facilitate fit. Printing with a .25mm nozzle seems to make the retainer ring fit tighter than printing with a .4mm nozzle, also the lettering is more crisp with the smaller nozzle.</p> <p>PETG or ABS might be a better choice as they are slightly softer and more likely to withstand impacts.
