The Ludovisi Fury Boncompagni Ludovisi Collection, in the Palazzo Altemps Museum, Rome, Italy. Luna Marble. This sculpture has been variously interpreted as a Sleeping Fury or a Medusa. When it entered the Ludovisi Collection, the left side of the face was cut flat to improve stability. In Greek myth, Furies were female chthonic dieties of vengeance.
