Lulzbot Hexagon Extruder Modification
thingiverse
This is a revised version of several designs that draws primarily from the design I tagged as the remix. To understand the main issue it addresses, please refer to the original design. This iteration features an integrated filament guide and is compatible with Lulzbot's "Beefy" Idler, which I've uploaded a remix of. I have also eliminated the built-in supports from the original design. I've posted two versions of this design: one for heat-set inserts and another for the standard nuts. I highly recommend opting for the heat-set insert version, as the nuts tend to strip out or even cause the extruder to split. If you choose to implement this modification, you'll need to print either of the extruder bodies and a single spacer. It's also recommended that you print the "Beefy" Idler; use the one I uploaded if you decide on heat-set inserts – it will make your life easier later on. Additionally, you'll require an M3 x 60mm bolt, as well as optionally two M4 x 4.7mm heat-set inserts. A crucial note: during assembly, be mindful of the Hobbed bolt's alignment. Use washers to ensure the Hob aligns correctly with the filament's path.
