Lulzbot Taz 6 (or Mini) Spool Holder, easy!

thingiverse

This spool holder is designed for the TAZ-6 printer, but will probably work on a variety of others. I have included the Solidworks source files for those who want to modify. To use this you make one Spool Holder and one Cap. Then cut a length of 1/2" PVC (NOT CPVC) pipe, force fit into the hole, and put the cap on the other side. I used a length that is 5-1/2" long, not super critical. I think you will find this design easier to use than others on Thingiverse that require you to put a removable axle into the spool and then rest that on two supports. With this design however, you simply put the spool on. Done. Also, like others, it's mounted above the printer, there's no need for feed tubes. The filament simply drapes down and is taken as needed. I suggest mounting this with T-Nuts (3mm thread size), those are pretty easy to find. I originally thought I'd use 5mm T-Nuts, the insertable types, but those don't fit into the extrusion on the Taz-. Questions, comments? Please post them.
