THIS MODEL REQUIRED REWORK, AS DIMENSIONS QUOTED GENERALLY ON THE INTERNET ARE NOT CORRECT... Apologies; my suspicions were correct. I have just found the US Army technical manual, and this quotes quite different dimensions. The issue was one of scaling (the original files worked out at around 1:95) - NOW CORRECTED. I have attached the relevant page of the US Army Manual - always go back to original sources and do not rely on Wikipedia or general sources! This is a 1:76 model of the post-war US Army M102 howitzer, broken down into printable elements. The design is based on an old .max design that I discovered on the cadnav.com web site (to whom my thanks), using the Yobi3D site (again, my thanks) to convert to stl to get started. I used both MeshMixer and 3D Builder to manipulate the fila into components, and to add strengthening elements (which seem to have worked) where needed. There are two versions of the carriage, one with the loop (no idea of its function) and one without. Removing the supports can be fiddly, but the bar across the bottom of the hydraulic support cylinders is redundant and should be cut off, making removal of hidden supports easier. If this is not clear, I can provide some further details. It is an interesting model of a gun that was replaced by the M119, the British Light Gun, in US use. I hope to post a make soon; as you can see, the parts seem to print as expected. Enjoy! Updated gun file loaded to strengthen link to carriage, as this disappeared on printing... Updated scaling to correct sizing of model 24/11/18 Added versions of the chassis with the strengthened wheel mounts rotated to the firing position. The wheels can then be glued in the raised position and the unit sits on the base.
