M3 Tap and Drill Case

M3 Tap and Drill Case

prusaprinters

I needed a case to hold a set of drills and taps for M3 fasteners. I was inspired by the square, telescoping tubes they ship cutting tools in and another design I'd made for a scalpel cover.

It can handle bits that are 30-65 mm long and less than 3mm in diameter. It has 24 slots.

The fit the top has is a bit too tight and I probably should have refined it further. However, the lid is firmly attached and won't unexpectedly release from the base so that's a positive.

The wide base is both for stability and to give you something to grasp, either in your hands or on the table, when taking off the lid.

Print instructions

Sliced for PETG.

Everything can print without supports, however I printed the lid with a brim give the base surface area to the height.
