As the Americans looked at Europe, watching the German Panzers and Blitzkrieg trample it, they realized they needed some new, heavier tanks. Thus the M6 Heavy Tank was born. After testing, the tank was found to be unsatisfactory and did not meet army requirements. The project was cancelled, and the tank fell into the dust bin of tank history. However, I decided that it needed honoring, since it was influential in the design of future American tanks.
