This design is meant to hold an M8 nut in place. It is 3/4" in diameter so it can fit snugly inside a 3/4" drilled hole. It has a shelf on the bottom to hold the nut in place and is deep enough to hold the full height. It also has a hole in the bottom so you can run an M8 bolt right through it.
