I really liked the Macintosh Apple Mini dock as it was originally designed, but for my application it needed some way to mount it to 80/20 extruded aluminum bars. So I 'remixed' the original design: removed some volume by making the back a bit thinner, I added wings on either side of the dock with 8.5 mm dia holes so I could easily mount this to my home automation prototyping aluminum frame, and my personal favorite.... I increased the amount of clearance above iPad, which makes it possible to slide the iPad securely into the dock from the front (refer to the attached images for a more on that).
