Desde octubre de 2014 existe en el parque San Francisco, frente al estanque de los patos, una estatua de Mafalda, el célebre personaje creado por el humorista gráfico argentino Quino. Creada por Pablo Irgang (diseñador de otra igual para el barrio de San Telmo, en Buenos Aires) se instaló con motivo del premio Princesa de Asturias con el que Quino fue galardonado. It is an sculpture made in tribute to Quino, who created Mafalda, and who received Asturias Princess´ Prize few years ago. It is art in the city of Oviedo, in which streets the council arrange an outside museum with a hundred of cultural pieces. Parts of it historic richness. It is not a toy, it is a coloured statue from Pablo Irving, who did a similar piece in San Telmo yard, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Mafalda was the main character of argentinian Quino who gave her the rebel psychology of the childs againts the older society.
