Added a lid which is made for a metal spring. The spring has to be bend from a srping steel. Get yourself a piece of spring steel with the dimensions of 295 x 6.5 x 0.5 mm and bend it to a similar geometry like the plastic spring.
Update 2021/01/13: improved some dimensions
This is a magazine for the popular cobra pistol crossbow. It can hold up to 6 bolts and has a laser included. The laser used for this projekt can be found on amazon: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0081S10SY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
For the assembly of the magazine following screws are requiered:
5x M4 x 20 (DIN 912) 1x M4 x 15 (DIN 912) Laser height adjustment 1x M4 x 30 (Front connection of the magazine to the frame) 7x M4 Hex Nut (For the back connection the original screw of the cobra is reused)
The safety spring is a crucial part. Even if you remove the safety mechanism of your cobra, you still want to assemble the safety spring as it prevents the bolt from sliding back during cocking.
The safety spring should be printed in a tough material. At least PETG, better nylon. When cocking, the string hits the spring, which can cause it to break quickly. The rest can be printed in PLA, since the other parts are not exposed to large forces.
If you prefer a steel safety spring, you have the option of using the original spring that pushes the arrows down on the unmodified Cobra. For this to work, you have to cut it to size, drill a new hole at the right position and adjust the shape by bending it a bit. It takes a few tries until you have the right shape.
If you want to go this way, you also have to put a spacer between the steel spring and the magazine, so that the spring is pressed against the crossbow frame. (Thickness spacer = thickness plastic spring - thickness steel spring).
When I store the crossbow, I leave the magazine cover open so the arrow spring is not under tension. Since it's only plastic, I'm afraid that otherwise the spring force would decrease over time.
I have no long-term experience with this magazine yet. I can only say that the first test shots were successful. If over time it turns out that the spring force of the plastic arrow spring is not enough, I will change the design and switch to a steel spring.
