45 degree BANKED CURVE compatible with Scalextric slot car track. This is the MAGLESS transition between horizontal and 45 degree bank. There are four transition pieces that go together to make one unit. “Transition 4” connects to a 45Bank Curve(not included in this download). Note that “Transition 4” sweeps through 22.5 degree sweep as well as changing angle, so you only need to print 6 x 45Bank Curves, not 8, to make a 180 degree corner like the one seen in my photos. “Transition 1” connects to Scalextric track or to other “racerunner” printed track. The “Transition 1” stl file includes a mirror version. For mirror versions of transitions 2,3 & 4 - mirror them in your slicing program. STEPS 1. print the track pieces, top edges, manhole covers and tabs. 2. glue the top edge pieces to the track pieces. 3. connect all curves and transitions using dowel*** pins for accurate location. Also use 2 x large tabs between “Transition 1” and “Transition 2”. 4. fasten the track pieces with cable ties (zip ties). 5. stick on adhesive backed copper foil****. 6. connect to your Scalextric track. See video '##' 7. Start Racing! Feel free to print this or print it and sell it - I give permission for that. But please don't give away the .stl files. Two Variations - one for MAGLESS racing, one for magnet racing. This is the MAGLESS variant - it has grooves for gluing in steel wires before you stick on the copper tape. The radius of the turn is Scalextric R4 (r = 526mm). The photo shows off-the-shelf R4 inner borders fitting the curves. My experience is you don’t need the steel for 45 degree banking; you don’t need magnetic effect – the track shape is sufficient to hold the cars on the track at top speed – even my Slot-it Porsches stay on after the magnet is removed. But my slot car track table is only 4m long… See it in actionhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5Sput3c6qA&t=3s For more info see Slotforumhttps://www.slotforum.com/threads/3dp-45degree-banked-corner-compatible-with-scalextric.205841/ '##' Re track joining to Scalextric track, this post and accompanying video will help https://www.slotforum.com/threads/a-joining-system-for-3d-printed-track.207628/ To join Scalextric track to racerunner track you will need to drill 4 holes in the end of the piece of Scalextric track you wish to use as a converter. To assist in locating the drill positions, download and print my (free) design: Template for Track Conversion - racerunner to Scalextric.
