Background

I use the OhSnap! 1.0 grip for my phone and was sad to see they have stopped making the 1.0 accessories in favor of their 2.0 system. I am happy with my current 1.0 grip and needed a second stand for my office desk in addition to my original SnapStand at home now that I'm working hybrid. This led me to building my own with pieces off the shelf and second hand from eBay.

While I made this to replicate the OhSnap! Snapstand 1.0 as you can see from the picture it would work quite well with the NiteIze socket system as well and I'm sure there are many other applications too.

Pieces Shown In pictures

25mm Chrome Steel Ball

Nite Ize Steelie Orbiter

OhSnap! wireless charger (optional)

3D printed stand

Printing

Print the stand just as it is oriented in the file. I did use variable layer height in Prusa Slicer to get smoother transitions on the tapered base and the top indentation for the steel ball so that it made good surface area contact.

Assembly

I just used some super glue on the tip of the base and set the steel ball in it and let it dry overnight. It's been holding great for weeks now with no issues. The Nite Ice orbiter simply magnets to the ball and from there you can attach the included metal plate to your phone or in my case to the OhSnap! wireless charger.
