Magnetic Base (adjustable strength)

This is a simple magnetic base with a removable top plate. The knob adjusts the position of the magnet carrier which turns the strength of the magnet's holding power up or down.
Total strength will depend on the class of magnets and thickness and iron content of the surface.

Currently the only top plate is for holding a 1/4" threaded rivet. It's purpose is to hold 1/4" gear like camera mounts and articulating arms.

The Fusion file is included so you can make any mount needed. To make a mount, you just turn off the top plate component and start from there.

The bottom of the base has a slot for a rubber ring that's printed in TPU/TPE. It will prevent the base from sliding down smooth metal surfaces. It can also prevent damage to a surface. Alternatively you can fill this channel with something like silicone, which will serve the same purpose. It needs to stick out a bit though. This ring should be printed on a very smooth surface to be the most effective. I printed it on some kapton tape, which gave me a mirror finish on the bottom.

Pictures should make it clear how everything is assembled.
Knob has a capped hole to aid with bridging. It's cut away after printing.

Worklight can be found Here

What you need

eBay searches are copied and pasted. Some are advanced searches which look a little strange.

12x 20x10x5mm N52 Neodymium Magnets with countersunk holes for M4 Screws. Technically only the last magnet needs to have a countersunk hole.

eBay Search: (n52,n50) 20x10x5 hole

1x 626 Bearing. It's purpose is to prevent the knob from binding, and to center the carrier. It's 19mm in diameter, 6mm thick, and a 6mm hole.

eBay Search: 626 bearing

1x 1/4" Threaded Rivet (optional) - For camera gear. It's 15mm long. Can be steel or aluminum. This should be glued in to prevent it from rotating.

eBay Search: 1/4" Thread (Rivet,Rivnut)

Screws:

4x 20mm M4 Countersunk - For the magnets.
4x 40mm M4 (Round) - For the top plate.
1x 35mm M6 (Hex) - For the magnet carrier. Goes in the knob.
1x M6 Nut - For the magnet carrier.
