Magnetic curtain rod holder

Magnetic curtain rod holder

thingiverse

I needed a magnetic curtain holder so I made one, starting with https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:967360 as the base. I added barbs on either side (no idea what the correct term for them would be) to keep the rod from slipping off. For the magnets, I used 60mm x 10mm x 3mm magnets (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B6NX5NP) (2 each). (The magnets' dimensions are actually 59mm x 9.4mm x 2.8mm, but they work fine for this application) I used superglue instead of the included mounting tape because I don't trust the mounting tape to last in the long run. BE CAREFUL when installing the magnets. They really want to jump together, so if you're not careful, it can get messy with the superglue. I found the best way to apply them was to put superglue down for one magnet, install that magnet, then either wait (if you're patient) or temporarily duct tape it down to install the second one. I've found that the second one is actually the one most likely to cause trouble, as it wants to jump and stick to the first one. When installing the second magnet, slide it in while holding it down to prevent this. Thanks to joestraws for designing the original!
