Special thanks to Devin Montes of Make Anything YouTube channel for making a video https://youtu.be/2df5ss5HqjI about making this game and introducing me to this fun little game. He made ingenious use of hobby magnets in this project which makes moving the game pieces satisfyingly fun as they snap into place. Check out his youtube channel for lots of awesome instructional videos. You can also download his original design from the links in the video linked above. I modeled this in fusion360 based on Devin's design. I print the board and game pieces face down in order to achieve a smooth finish to the visible surfaces. I used 6mmX3mm magnets and embedded them into the board (see cross-section analysis) just have your slicer stop the print when you reach the top of the magnet to get them in then resume the print. The filament changes and magnet covering layers happen at 1.2mm, 2.8mm, 5.8mm. Feel free to redesign the holes for the magnets if you don't find the correct size ones. You will need 6 game pieces, print 3 of any color and the other three a different color. Also, the inlayed game markings are printed with a different color. You don't have to do this but it does look nicer. Just stop your printer at the correct height layer and switch filaments. Rota Game Rules: 1. Each turn, players can put one piece on the board in any open spot. 2. After all three pieces are on the board, a player must move one piece each turn. 3. A piece may move along any line or curving edge of the circle to the next empty spot. 4. A piece may not jump other pieces nor move more than one spot. 5. The first person to get three in a row wins.
