Makerfarm Diamond Hotend Bowden Extruder for Hexagon Heat Sink

This is a mount for Makerfarm I3v's that allows you to connect a Diamond Hotend and Hexagon heat sinks in a Bowden format. I have designed integral part cooling and bed sensors to keep the design as compact as possible. I designed the mount around hexagons as that's what I had at home. Reprapme recommend E3d Heatsinks so if your starting from scratch that would probably be a better route. If you have some hexagons kicking around as I did then this is for you. This mount was designed around a 3mm diamond though it will also work with a 1.75mm as well. I actually converted my 3mm hexagons to 1.75mm with bowden as 3mm filament is a pain to work with in this setup. I have posted everything but the Hexagon Heat sink and fan as I did not design those two items. The whole thing is designed around 3mm hex bolts and nuts that come with the Makerfarm I3v printers. Also designed to use minimum parts. Everything was built around my printer capabilities so you may come across a hole that's too big or small. If it's practical to change I will try and do it for you however the design is still a work on progress and I will probably post updates from time to time. I am currently working on other things at the moment so it may be a week or two later :) My advice to you if you build this is, Hexagons are a pain to work with in this configuration. I used them as I had some spare. Make sure you loosen of the very small hex bolt on the heat break or you will break them when rotating to position. It's is still possible to break them if you are heavy handed so be careful. Build the whole thing in one go and then connect it to the V rails after! You will need to use some 3mm screws on the back of the plate or the bolts will rub on the rails and you will need to turn the bottom idler pin around the other way to stop it catching. The whole item bar the part cooling fan is printed on a .4 nozzle with 300micron layer height with 60% infill in ABS. The cooling fan needs to be printed at 100 micron layer height or at least the shroud does. Feel free to copy remix and release, For non commercial use only. I would appreciate you reference me as the designer if you pass it on elsewhere. Disclaimer, This is very much a work in progress and designed for my own use. I have released the design on request. I provide no warranty or guarantees. If you happen to break or damage your printer using this then I am not responsible. Use at your own discretion. Grayham Allin Print Settings Printer: Maker Farm I3v 10 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 300 micron Infill: 60% Notes: USE ABS I'VE NOT TRIED PLA BUT SUSPECT IT WILL JUST MELT :) You may need supports from the centre to top of the mount but only a couple. It's mainly because some printers try and print the hole before the surrounding material. You may get away with less infill but there is a lot of heat of the hotend so probably best to stick with 60% Make sure you print everything flat side down. You will have to rotate some of the stls' The early mount is just there for people that may want to integrate this into something else :) The fan and probe screws are 30mm. Obviously depends on the fan you use. I did design the fan to suck and not blow so air is pulled out the top and not blown on the part
