MakerFarm i3v MeanWell type power supply cover

This provides a cover for the terminal block area of a MeanWell-type power supply when it is mounted directly to the MakerFarm i3v frame. The cover requires two holes to be drilled in the i3v frame for use as mounting holes. Although the openSCAD design can be tailored for other applications, the provided STL design assumes the power supply has been relocated to a custom set of M4 mounting holes raised about 28mm from the standard location. The Printbus i3v build repositioned the power supply in order to provide more room for wiring at the bottom of the power supply. Includes hole options for a power cord cable clamp (Heyco 6W-1 used for the hole pattern) and a miniature toggle switch with 1/4-inch bushing. Includes an option for 4.6mm high spacer shims to be generated. These can be used to raise the power supply off the mounting surface to improve airflow and wire routing underneath the power supply. M4x16 screws with a washer under the screw head will work with the 5mm thread engagement limit of a MeanWell power supply. The cover design assumes terminal wiring is oriented downwards towards the i3v frame. The cover is sized to rest directly on the top side of the power supply terminal block. In the Printbus i3v build, the power supply was repositioned to a set of custom mounting holes. This raised the power supply up about 28mm to improve terminal screw access and wire routing at the bottom of the power supply. It also moved the power supply rearward about 6mm to improve airflow and wire routing options along the forward side of the power supply. The cover design reflects this power supply repositioning, and tailoring will be necessary to use the cover with a power supply in the original MakerFarm location. The openSCAD script includes dimensional tailoring suggestions for use with a MeanWell power supply in the original MakerFarm location. Instructions The Printbus universal post (uPost) creator is used for adding the mounting posts to the cover plate. uPost is available via http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:790359. Edit the power supply openSCAD script to the folder location where you copied uPost.scad to. The mounting posts are sized for direct threading of M3 screws. M3x10 to M3x16 should work. I located the necessary holes on the i3v frame by placing tape on the wood frame surface, temporarily holding in place the cover, and then tracing around the mounting posts where it met the tape. Oversized holes were drilled in the center of the markings for each post. The design was tested on an 8-inch i3v printer purchased in early 2014. The openSCAD script includes instructions as well.
