##Remix of Ben Heck's awesome upgrade for the Makergear M2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After a couple years of using my Makergear M2, my PLA parts for the extruder degraded and wouldn't feed the filament correctly. After searching for a few days for a replacement, I found [Ben Heck's extruder upgrade](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3538619). I recommend the upgrade, it is convenient and really helpful but I wanted to use metric hardware that I already had on stock. Here's some changes I made to the original models + some further upgrades: > **MAGNETS** >>I had 6 mm and 10 mm neodymium magnets on stock, however the 10 mm didn't fit into Ben's original models. All of the magnet locations were resized for 10 mm magnets since the 6 mm I used didn't seem to hold the fan components on with enough force. > **PTFE TUBING** >>The site where the PTFE tubing comes into the pinch arm was made with a tighter diameter to reduce wiggle in the PTFE tubing. > **SPRING** >>The sites where the spring is seated on the pinch arm and motor mount were made with tighter diameters to reduce the spring popping out and shooting off. See the update section below for the type of compression spring used and where I purchased it from. > **SPACER** >>I made a spacer since for the pinch arm since it was difficult to find the size in my area. > **MOTOR MOUNT** >> I changed some features on the motor mount model so it could be printed without supports. #UPDATES 11-15-19 >Made adjustments to the spring and the location where the spring sits on the pinch arm and motor mount. I made the diameter 12.2mm to allow for a stronger spring. The spring used was purchased from a [spring kit at Home Depot](https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-Spring-Assortment-Kit-84-Pack-13554/203133714?g_store=2770&mtc=Shopping-B-F_D25H-G-D25H-25_4_BUILDERS_HARDWARE-Multi-NA-Feed-LIA-NA-NA-BuildersHardware_LIA&cm_mmc=Shopping-B-F_D25H-G-D25H-25_4_BUILDERS_HARDWARE-Multi-NA-Feed-LIA-NA-NA-BuildersHardware_LIA-71700000044822926-58700004636006010-92700039037730264&gclid=Cj0KCQiAtrnuBRDXARIsABiN-7BWsXD33aAeqDYXRlRfknfGP60Qx2UlaY6aLxScXfh-UEGhddlQEnEaAishEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds). >I used the 29/64" diameter (~11.4mm) x 1 " length compression spring and it seems to have enough spring force to allow the pinch arm to compress the filament to the motor for feeding through the extruder.
