[Man Ray](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_Ray) was one of 20th century's most innovative artists and contributed largely to the Dada and Surreal movements. In 1920, he began creating chess sets and continued throughout his life. Man Ray's chess sets are simple and straightforward in their [abstract designs](http://www.openculture.com/2016/12/man-ray-designs-a-supremely-elegant-geometric-chess-set-in-1920.html).
