I'm slowly putting a custom Mandalorian costume together and wanted a set of knee armor. Couldn't quite find anything I liked so decided to model up a set myself.

I've uploaded the left knee, the pics are of a mirrored version for the right knee. Just mirror everything in the slicer to get both knees.

There are currently 3 dart variants but I may do more. They are 20mm in diameter and fit in the recesses.

I wanted some space inside to fit some 5mm leds into the knee darts. Eventually these will be used for a Star Wars based lasertag larp event so I will fit some electronics in there to 'fire' IR from them. There should just be enough room for everything.

The circuit 'hatch' is held in place with 2 small m2x10 self tapping screws. The Darts are similarly held with the same size screws and I'll also glue them for strength I think eventually.

The sides have slots designed to fit up to 40mm elastic to hold them to your knee and I think a bit of velcro inside to stop them slipping down will eventually be used too.

Print instructions

I printed these on my CR10. Sliced with Prusa Slicer. No supports needed as everything bridges. Just print with the top of the knee on the bed. I used 3 perimeters with a 0.6mm nozzle (my draft print setup). There's not much infill at that point and I used 20% Cubic for that.

The ones pictured will eventually be coated with 3d_xtc and then sanded and finished.

Modeled up in Blender 2.91. First bit of modelling something from scratch rather than altering existing stuff in Blender.
