Marantz 2325 Lamp Housing

Marantz 2325 Lamp Housing

thingiverse

This is a replacement lamp housing for Marantz 2325 receivers. Many original ones melted over time. Although this is a nearly exact copy of the original, and even though it includes the ventilation ports, if you choose to make it out of PLA material there are no guarantees that it will not melt when used with incandescent lamps. It should be used with LED lamp upgrades unless you have it made out of something with a much higher melting point than PLA (such as ABS). The PLA material has a melting point of 176 degrees F, and the standard Marantz incandescent lamps supposedly only reach 120 degrees F, so theoretically you have a 56 degree F safety margin. Nonetheless, if printed in PLA, LED lamps are highly recommended just to be safe. If printed in ABS, the part should be fine for LED or incandescent lamps. Instructions Many thanks to "dwlocks" for uploading the file upon which this is based!!! I took that file and stretched/modified it as necessary to apply to the Marantz 2325. The printed part fits nearly perfectly in my 2325, but I did have to slightly file down the left tab on the bottom front of the part. You may have to also do some very slight trimming/filing to perfect the fit. The ".thing" file I uploaded is ready to send to a MakerBot Replicator 2 printer. It will come out with some extra plastic support material on the inside of the housing, but you can carefully cut that out with a sharp knife. The photos I uploaded show the before and after state of that process. I also show it loosely installed in my 2325 (before my LED lamp upgrade arrives). The Google SketchUp file is also included in case someone wants to tweak this even more. The ".STL" file is for those who want to import the file into some other modeling program. The original model was created using inches for the units. The finished size of the part is ROUGHLY 9.25"W x 1.625"D x 1.75"H.
