Mars Base

Mars Base

thingiverse

This is the design for the Mars Base Challenge, it is designed as a box so you can see the set up above and below ground. The base is built 5 meters underground to protect the astronauts from radiation. There are 4 main areas; the living quarters, laboratories and green house, the water pump and storage and the workshop. The water pump is a drill which dills into the ice under mars surface and melt it for drinking water. The shop is for maintenance as well as a place to store the rover to keep it safe from the cold temperatures of Mars. On the surface you will see the main entrance which connects to the 3 main partitions of the base and the entrance to the shop - which is an elevator - on the other side. There is solar panels set up for energy and the base can use the gases from the planet for extra power. Mars has quite a bit of carbon dioxide and nitrogen in its atmosphere which can be extracted through the vents in the main entrance's roof to be mixed into breathable air. I thank you for your consideration and I hope you enjoy my model. Instructions It comes in two pieces - the lid and the base. the lid may need support for printing, but only for the bottom which is unseen. I have yet to print any of my creations so I am excited that this will be my first.
