This ring is based on the (undamaged) wheels of NASA's Mars Curiosity Rover, which landed on mars in 2012.

The real rover's wheels contain a cool Easter egg hidden in their design: Holes built into the wheels, to let dirt escape and not build up inside the wheel wells, are laid out in pattern that spells out "JPL" in morse code. JPL are the initials of the NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory that built the rover. You can read more about it here.

This model is slightly different in proportions from the original wheels to make it more comfortable to wear but you should still clearly see the treads and morse code holes in the ring. The diameter of the hole in the model is 18mm and you can to scale up or down in your slicer to get the correct size.

Print Settings

Printer Brand: Prusa

Printer: i3 MK3

Supports: No

Resolution: 0.15 mm layers, 0.4mm nozzle

Infill:

100%
