Massive Lego V6 Engine

Massive Lego V6 Engine

thingiverse

This is very much a work in progress. Well for a given value of progress... I will at least update this thingiverse log with better pictures and instructions when I get a chance. I have printed this as a working item, as you can see in the video, with some post processing as detailed on each part. You will need: 6x Block (needs support, no real postprocessing except removing that support) 6x Conrod (print this sideways, needs support and that needs some sanding away to make a good ball joint) 6x Piston (I printed this with the top up so it needed support. Needed a bit of sanding) 2x Crank (printed standing up with support) 2x Crank mid (printed on their side with support) 3x 2 Axle (printed on end) 12x Clip (printed standing on end with support) 4x Half Clip (printed on end with support) 4x 4x1 Tall (printed standing up as normal, no support) 2x 6x1 Flat (printed standing up as normal, no support) 2x 4x1 Flat (printed standing up as normal, no support) 1x Fan (printed as modelled, shouldnt need support?) 1x Stand (printed with very low infil to save plastic, no support) I've now added a few exploded view images which should show how the thing is put together when you have all the bits (and changed the number of axles needed!) https://youtu.be/Qzeq3x_GwpE Issues that I've found so far: - The piston to conrod ball joint is a bit stiff and produces most of the friction in the system, needs more sanding than I gave them. - Pistons may need shrinking a touch in diameter ... - Stand is huge and peels easily due to large flat first layer - Some of the studs don't link to the other parts as strongly as I like (I found this especially with the 4x1 Flat which has slightly larger studs now) - The fan ends dont have the correct castelation (is that even a word) pattern on them, they look correct but in reality have the wrong number of teeth. I couldnt get onshape to model what I wanted... I haven't touched this in ages because I am quite happy with the one I have so I thought I would link the Onshape I used to make it all so someone else can play if they want: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/9e983987f9a9cf60fdcd7618/w/37b954911e52e9490f445bcd/e/f8aeec37bd064d8149fa0032 I'm pretty sure its in the state that I printed it at but I make no guarantees
