MasterSpool Coupler for Das Filament Spools

MasterSpool Coupler for Das Filament Spools

**Update 17/2/2018:** I finally received my filament refill from Das Filament today, but unfortunately, it didn't work out as expected. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that without cutting the tie wraps first, the filament won't fit on the spool even when using a coupler. This means that reusing old Das Filament spools by cutting them in half isn't a viable option. Fortunately, just a few days ago, Das Filament released their own design for the MasterSpool, which requires very little filament to print. So, if you're looking to save on filament, I highly recommend printing this one instead. I initially liked the idea of the MasterSpool but didn't want to waste 250g of filament just to print a spool. Therefore, I decided to take a different approach by cutting an empty spool from Das Filament in half and designing a coupler to hold the two pieces together. To my surprise, the final print turned out to be a huge success. Pushing the two parts together and taking them apart is quite easy, while everything remains held tightly together at the same time. What's more, it only takes about 30g of PLA to print the part. The design was created using FreeCAD, and the design file is available for download. If you want to make any changes to the design, it should be pretty straightforward.
